ATX Portraits - In-Studio Sessions

You've decided to spruce up your resume with new professional head shots and captivating new branding images to enhance your website. You want to attract your ideal client and show them what you offer IS the solution that they've been looking for. The timing has never been so right.

When you book with us, you'll fill out a short client consultation form, then we'll meet via Zoom for a pre-session consultation to see if there's a fit. We'll talk about the details of your shoot and what you'll want to create together.

I primarily shoot in-studio as a studio photographer. However, I have experience of shooting both indoors and outdoors. To help you decide what's best for you, I've put together a list of studio pros and cons of shooting in-studio or outdoors to give you a better idea of the look you're going for!

Pros of booking an In-Studio session:

Some of the advantages of shooting indoors include the ability to avoid the wind, dust, heat, and rain, all of which can make shooting outdoors unpleasant. With the scorching heat in Texas, air conditioning feels incredible, and equally as significant is the ability to turn up the heat when it cools down in the winter. This makes an indoor-studio setting very comfortable and the unpredictable outdoor weather, irrelevant!

Natural light, or commonly referred to as "Gods Light," is absolutely stunning, to say the least; and our open-space studio pours over with this type of lighting on most sunlit days. Specializing as an in-studio photographer allows me to draw in the best qualities of both worlds, studio lighting & natural lighting, and create a look all on its own that is dynamic and awe-inspiring.

Having a studio allows us to control who is in our studio. Privacy really matters for my maternity and boudoir clients who may want to shoot partial nude portraits.

I provide sanitized and clean changing areas, with access to a bathroom in my studio. Clients can opt for enjoying refreshments and experience a double makeover with my hair and makeup artist. There's also a private area to change into several outfits during our time together. More often than not, these conveniences aren't available in outdoor sessions.

Pros of booking an Outdoor Session:

Some of the pros of shooting in an outdoor session may resonate with people who prefer to not be placed in front of a seamless backdrop with a posed or formal look. Based on individual preferences, a posed look may feel uncomfortable or too formal, whereas a posed look can help to capture the best angles of you.

Shooting in-studio may remove some spontaneity found in shoots done out in nature. Sometimes it's pretty hard to beat the beauty of a natural setting.

You can really move around and capture more action spots in a wide-open space. We have 2 smaller rooms and one full open-space studio setting for those who'd like to capture action shots.

Cons of booking an Outdoor Session:

Inclement weather. I've learned you can plan ahead and even listen to daily weather forecasts, but sometimes when the raindrops start falling, all you can do is reschedule.

When you have your professional portraits taken outdoors in public, sometimes you can experience very little to no privacy. You can only hope that people and animals will keep their distance; however, nothing stops random people from wandering in or around your background or birds or bees harassing subjects.

It's rare to find a public outdoor place to change that's as pleasant, accommodating, and sanitary as our studio, which may make shooting outdoors unappealing for some.

If you want to talk out all your photography options, DM me or use my online contact form, and I'll get back to you quickly, usually within 24 hours. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
